Overview
In 1975, Sunstate Academy began training students for careers in barber styling. Since then, the school has expanded to include courses in cosmetology, nail styling and massage therapy. Three locations in Fort Myers and Clearwater, Florida are available for classroom and hands-on training experiences from Redken-trained instructors. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), a nationally recognized agency.
Student Appeal
Graduates of Sunstate Academy receive career services at no extra cost. The school's career center offers a job placement board where potential employers can post openings. The staff at the school works with employers to assist students in finding a career that fits their skills. They encourage employers to visit the campus to meet students. The school also holds career days to invite students and employers to discuss possible future opportunities.
Financial
Sunstate Academy participates in student financial programs that the U.S. Department of Education supports. Students with financial needs to pay their tuition have a variety of programs open to them. Aid is based on need and each individual case is considered. Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants and Stafford Loans are available through the government. The State of Florida also offers the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship program.

Students in this program receive a professional kit with the tools needed to perform a variety of services. Instructors train students in the classroom and in real salons to give them the necessary hands-on training for a career after graduation. Cosmetology skills along with customer service techniques are part of this program. - Massage TherapyMassage Therapy
This program offers instruction in the many techniques used by a Professional Massage therapist. The school is approved by the Florida Board of Massage and offers a 600-hour program that qualifies students to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB). Graduates tend to enter the field as therapists in spas, salons, chiropractic clinics, wellness centers, and a variety of other settings. - Nail TechnicianNail Technician
Instructors teach students the skills needed to give professional manicures as a professional Nail Technician. Classroom teaching and real-world training combine for a smooth transition into the nail styling field. Graduates possess the skills to perform manicures, pedicures and apply a variety of nail-related products in a professional setting.
