Overview Ridley-Lowell Business & Technical Institute has campuses in Binghamton, Poughkeepsie and New London, New York. The school offers a variety of career training courses in areas including Accounting, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Coding and Legal Office Assisting. The main campus in Poughkeepsie has been serving students since 1850, and all three campuses offer day and night course schedules.
Student Appeal
Ridley-Lowell offers very flexible schedules, day and night classes, and a low student to teacher ratio. Additionally, no liberal arts classes are required, so students can take only the classes they need to achieve their career and personal goals. The majority of the evening programs can be finished in as little as eleven months.

Financial aid is available to those who qualify in the form of grants and loans. Ridley-Lowell is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).

Administrative AssistantAdministrative Assistant Students who complete this program have an excellent background in office procedures, principles of accounting, and records management. Students will acquire skills including speedwriting, keyboarding, and transcription. The graduates of this program are qualified for jobs as executive assistants, office manager, secretaries and administrative assistants.
Computerized Accounting SpecialistComputerized Accounting Specialist This program prepares students for entry-level accounting/bookkeeping positions, such as general bookkeeper, accounts receivable or accounts payable clerk, payroll clerk and others. Students may also enroll in additional courses in Business Law, Computer Applications, Cost Accounting, and Taxes and Financial Statement Preparation.
Computerized Accounting TechnicianComputerized Accounting Technician Graduates of this program are prepared for jobs in the today's business environment. Students will study all facets of the accounting cycle, including trial balance, adjusting entries, worksheet, and financial reports. Students will also be able to interpret and understand special journals--sales, purchases and accounts payable/receivable.
Electrical System TechnicianElectrical System Technician Students train to become an entry-level electrician or to enter an electrician apprenticeship. Curriculum includes fundamental electrical safety, measurement, and wiring skills, along with how to read schematics and blueprints.
Evening Computerized BookkeepingEvening Computerized Bookkeeping This is an evening program which is well suited for students who are looking for entry-level jobs in bookkeeping. The focus is on accounting principles, and graduates are prepared for entry-level jobs as accounts receivable clerks, accounts payable clerks or general bookkeepers.
Evening Information ProcessingEvening Information Processing Students in this program acquire a complete understanding of software and office technology. Graduates benefit from hands-on and are provided with the necessary skills for being employed in a wide number of businesses. Basic business is combined with an emphasis on computer applications.
Evening Medical Administrative AssistantEvening Medical Administrative Assistant This program gives students the skills required for working in medical facilities in an administrative role. Students take course in medical office procedures, terminology, coding, billing, and transcription. Graduates are prepared for entry-level jobs in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and more.
Evening Medical AssistantEvening Medical Assistant In this program, students learn both administrative and clinical duties which prepare them to work in a doctor’s office or hospital. Students learn to obtain a patient's history, take vital signs, perform routine tests, and help the doctor y preparing the room and patient for exams. Students will also be able to handle all front desk situations.
Evening Medical Transcription SpecialistEvening Medical Transcription Specialist This program prepares students to prepare reports, letters, and documents from a transcribing machine and tapes as dictated by a doctor or other healthcare professional. Students take courses in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, computer fundamentals, keyboarding, pharmacology, and medical transcription.
Evening Networking & Technical Support SpecialistEvening Networking & Technical Support Specialist The Medical Transcription Specialist prepares reports, letters, and documents from a transcribing machine and tapes as dictated by a health professional. This program prepares the student for employment as a transcriptionist; in addition, the student may use the learned skills to be a medical secretary. Necessary areas of learning shall include medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, computer fundamentals, keyboarding, pharmacology, and medical transcription.
Information ProcessingInformation Processing Graduates of this program achieve a comprehensive understanding of software and office technology. Students take advantage of both information processing theory as well and get hands-on practice to provide you with the skills needed for employment in a variety of organizations.
Legal Office AssistantLegal Office Assistant This program is designed for students who wish to pursue employment as a secretary in a law firm or in another government agency. Students study transcription, preparation of legal documents, office procedures, terminology, and business law.
Managerial AccountingManagerial Accounting This program prepares students for entry-level positions in the accounting field. Students are trained in several software applications, including a computerized accounting package. Graduates are qualified for positions such as accounts receivable clerk and as accounts payable clerk.
Medical Administrative AssistantMedical Administrative Assistant This program prepares students with the necessary knowledge and skills used in medical facilities in an administrative capacity. Students receive training in medical office procedures, terminology, coding, billing, and transcription.
