Overview
NYU (Masters & Graduate Certificates) is one of the top universities in the United States, and its graduate schools are no exception. NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies has 14 master’s programs and 11 certificate programs, all of which are designed to train students for specific careers. The majority of programs are completed at the physical campus, though a few programs maybe completed either entirely online or in conjunction with on-campus classes.

    Graduate Certificates

    • Graduate Certificate in Benefits and CompensationGraduate Certificate in Benefits and Compensation
      Designed for HR professionals, this graduate certificate program trains students in many aspects of being a leading HR professional. The program is 18 credits and is made up of two required courses in addition to four electives takes from the M.S. program. A large number of students go directly into the M.S. program after gaining the certificate.
    • Graduate Certificate in Construction ManagementGraduate Certificate in Construction Management
      Graduates of this program will have a competitive edge in the construction management industry due to acquiring a set of very specific skills. Leading industry professionals teach the classes and the program is designed for professionals with a bachelors degree and want an excellent background for a career in construction management, as well as for those students who already possess a graduate degree who want to specialize in their own industry. A series of six courses is included, all of which are directly transferable to the graduate program.
    • Graduate Certificate in Hospitality Industry StudiesGraduate Certificate in Hospitality Industry Studies
      This program is a good fit for those students with a bachelors who want to get a good background in a hospitality industry career without committing to a full masters program, as well as for those students with graduate degrees who want to pursue a different career or attain more specialization in their current career. Students make take any of the four concentrations within the Masters of Hospitality Industry Studies, or any five courses in the program approved by the program director.
    • Graduate Certificate in Information TechnologyGraduate Certificate in Information Technology
      This certificate trains students with today's most common ways of gathering, storing, accessing and using information. A strong foundation in data management technologies is provided in this 18-unit program, which can be completed in two semesters. Six courses must be completed. This program is designed for those wanting a solid foundation in Information Technology or for those with graduate degrees who are interested in changing careers or specializing in their current careers.
    • Graduate Certificate in Real EstateGraduate Certificate in Real Estate
      While not as in-depth as the masters program, this certificate program provides comprehensive coverage of all aspects of real estate principles including finance, economics and legal issues. All coursework completed in this program may be transferred to the graduate program, and the certificate program’s six courses are the same first six courses of the masters program.
    • Graduate Certificate in Sports BusinessGraduate Certificate in Sports Business
      Students in this program may choose between either of the two M.S. concentrations: Marketing and Media or Finance and Development. Five courses within these concentrations must be completed, although with the consent of the program director, any five courses within the M.S. program may be alternatively taken. A large number of students transfer directly into the masters program.
    • Graduate Certificate in Tourism and Travel ManagementGraduate Certificate in Tourism and Travel Management
      This certificate program may be completed by taking any of the four concentrations within the masters in Tourism and Travel Management or any five courses in the program with the program director's consent. Not all of the courses will directly transfer to the graduate program, and the majority of students in this program transfer to the graduate program immediately upon completion.

    • Master of Arts in Graphic Communications Management and TechnologyMaster of Arts in Graphic Communications Management and Technology
      Graduates of this program will be given the opportunity to develop strong leadership, graphic communications and media skills. Students will have access to industry professionals, and the majority of the coursework is based on practical applications. Mentoring opportunities will be provided as students prepare for careers as marketing managers, advertising account executives, pre-press specialists and more.
    • Master of Science in Construction ManagementMaster of Science in Construction Management
      This program provides students with the fundamentals of both project and business management. Students will learn how to effectively manage all facets of a major construction project such as estimating, cost control, negotiation and labor relations. The contractual relationships between the owner, the contractor, the builders and the subcontractors will all be explored.
    • Master of Science in Digital Imaging and DesignMaster of Science in Digital Imaging and Design
      This rigorous program prepares students for successful careers in digital media, entertainment or design. Emphasis is placed on creative and technical problem solving, and students will learn what makes up a good production team. Classes are project-oriented, and students will have the opportunity to explore the history and philosophy of digital imagery and to then later apply the knowledge to specific projects.
    • Master of Science in Direct and Interactive MarketingMaster of Science in Direct and Interactive Marketing
      Graduates of this program will be trained as highly skilled direct and interactive marketing professionals. Students will learn to use the Internet for their marketing purposes and will take courses in competitive strategy, financial planning and database analysis. Students will be well prepared to enter the rapidly changing world of direct and interactive marketing, and they will learn how to respond to quickly changing trends.
    • Master of Science in FundraisingMaster of Science in Fundraising
      This program combines scholarly and practical work in order to train students in the history, philosophy and fundamentals of fund raising, as well as the related psychological, ethical and legal issues. Class assignments, opportunities for research and a practical final project all contribute to the students’ studies, as do a wealth of visiting faculty and lecturers.
    • Master of Science in Global AffairsMaster of Science in Global Affairs
      Students till gain a deep understanding of some of today's most critical issues surrounding global politics, economics, human rights and many other issues. Graduates will be fully prepared to apply their knowledge to a large variety of careers including NGOs, the United Nations and law firms. The program may be taken on a part-time or full-time basis, and a practical approach to studies is taken.
    • Master of Science in Hospitality Industry StudiesMaster of Science in Hospitality Industry Studies
      Students of this program will be prepared for leadership roles in the hospitality industry. All aspects of hotel operations will be studied including sales, marketing, customer relationships, management and technology. Current issues from today’s travel and tourism industry and worked into the curriculum so that students will well-informed about current and future industry developments.
    • Master of Science in Human Resource Management and DevelopmentMaster of Science in Human Resource Management and Development
      Graduates will be trained in one of the fastest growing fields in the nation. Students will be trained in all aspects of human resources including recruiting and hiring new employees, compensation and benefits, and labor law compliance. Students will enjoy being taught by a faculty comprised of HR practitioners who possess large amounts of hands-on experience. Students will also benefit from being assigned a mentor from a top company.
    • Master of Science in Management and SystemsMaster of Science in Management and Systems
      This interdisciplinary program provides students with the foundations of sound business practice as well as an in-depth exposure to leading-edge knowledge of information technologies. Courses may be taken online, onsite, or a combination of both. A combination of coursework and case studies is backbone of the curriculum, and business strategy will be at the heart of ever course. Upon graduation, students will be fully prepared for executive-level management positions.
    • Master of Science in Public Relations and Corporate CommunicationsMaster of Science in Public Relations and Corporate Communications
      The Public Relations and Corporate Communications program works with senior executives from several top companies in order for students to gain valuable hands-on experience and mentoring. Students will be trained in research, strategic planning, written and oral communication and more. Possible careers include international PR, healthcare PR, and entertainment and sports PR.
    • Master of Science in PublishingMaster of Science in Publishing
      Students will be provided with a solid grounding in book and magazine publishing as well as coursework covering digital publishing and media. A strong emphasis is placed on business and marketing skills, and students will complete major projects and assignments which simulate real situations they will encounter on a daily business while in a publishing career. The faculty is comprised of professionals active in some of the country's leading publishing companies.
    • Master of Science in Real EstateMaster of Science in Real Estate
      This program combines intellectual theory with real-world, practical applications. All parts of the real estate deal will be analyzed, including initiation, negotiation, financing and closing the transaction. The curriculum is continually assessed for its practicality with respect to current real estate market trends.
    • Master of Science in Sports BusinessMaster of Science in Sports Business
      Students will take coursework in management, business and leadership, all of which provide solid background to a sports business career. Courses will include union negotiations, new ticketing technologies and box office strategies. The faculty is comprised of leaders in the sports business field.
    • Master of Science in Tourism and Travel ManagementMaster of Science in Tourism and Travel Management
      Graduates of this program will be fully prepared with the analytical, financial and professional skills used in high-level positions in tourism management, tourism development and marketing. Today's travel and tourism environment is the curriculum's central focus. Students will be trained in such specific areas as customer relation management and urban tourism development.
