Overview Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) was founded in 1851 and is a private, independent, Catholic, coeducational institution. The university offers graduate programs as well as evening bachelor programs for working adults to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees, or credentials. NDNU currently enrolls approximately 1,500 students from 25 states and 23 foreign countries.
The school's intimate size enables students to meet their classmates, know faculty members, and form lasting relationships more easily, and smaller classes gives more personal attention.
Student Appeal
The 50-acre, wooded campus is located in the city of Belmont, CA, on
the San Francisco Peninsula midway between San Francisco (30 minutes to the north) and San Jose to the south. NDNU is located near major highways, three airports, bus stops, and train stations. The university is made up of four schools: Arts & Humanities, Business & Management, Education & Leadership, and Sciences. NDNU is fully accredited and offers 24 undergraduate degrees and many graduate degrees, credentials and certificates. There are more than 20 student organizations reflecting academics, cultural, professional, social, and service groups, as well as athletics and a lively arts and entertainment scene.
Financial
Financial aid is available to most full-time and part-time students through federal loans, private loans, scholarships and grants. There are payment plan options available to students and families, and NDNU also accepts tuition reimbursement plans from employers.

Computer and Information ScienceComputer and Information Science The Computer and Information Science major helps students interested a career as a computer professional or graduate study. It combines theory with practical aspects of designing and implementing computer-based solutions to problems. The program also emphasizes the current trends in software engineering through an object-oriented approach and Internet/networking applications using Java, Perl, C++, and other Web related software systems, tools, and technologies.
Human ServicesHuman Services The Human Services program is designed to prepare working professionals for positions in health and human services fields through work in mental health organizations, law enforcement, health care facilities, employee relations departments, and in government or community advocacy programs.
Liberal Studies: Foundations for TeachingLiberal Studies: Foundations for Teaching This specialization in Liberal Studies is designed to prepare students for careers in elementary education. Curriculum includes language studies, literature, culture and language, mathematics, natural science, history and social science, the arts, and human development.
PsychologyPsychology The Bachelor of Psychology degree is offered as both a traditional day and a part-time evening major. It is the only comprehensive evening psychology degree offered in the Bay Area and prepares students for graduate work in psychology. Some evening courses are offered in Accelerated format, for qualified students.
Classes include specializations of psychology, from the clinical to the social to the experimental. Students develop analytic skills and interdisciplinary perspectives through lively classroom work, individual research, and community-based learning. Courses can be customized after fulfilling core requirements.

Graduates are prepared to become superintendents, deputy and associate superintendents, principals, assistant principals, or other intermediate administrative professionals.
Art Therapy Psychology, MAArt Therapy Psychology, MA The Master in Art Therapy Psychology is designed for those students seeking to become Registered Art Therapists (ATR) but who do not intend to pursue clinical licensing.
Business Administration, MBABusiness Administration, MBA The MBA program emphasizes innovation, leadership competencies, and global business skills needed in today's business world. Instructors have diverse backgrounds and extensive industry experience to present an accurate view of the current business environment. Classes combine advanced knowledge with practical skills of leadership, quantitative analysis, and theory to give students the widest range of opportunities to apply them to real business situations.
Clinical Psychology, MAClinical Psychology, MA The MA in Clinical Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology/MFT programs prepare graduates to become practicing therapists. Instructors emphasize both theoretical and experiential learning while teaching fundamentals of clinical psychology, counseling, and psychotherapy. Graduates choose to either pursue future doctoral studies in the field of psychology, or work within a broad range of clinical and administrative settings within the health care field.

Education Specialist Level IIEducation Specialist Level II This program includes research and practical course study in Special Education, Health Education, and Advanced Methods. Graduates are prepared for further graduate study or immediate employment as trained special education teachers.
English, MAEnglish, MA The Master of Arts in English program includes specializations in creative writing and literature. Curriculum includes courses in writing, literary theory, and linguistics along with genre courses in lyric, drama, and narrative. Depending on the program emphasis, the courses may include a research thesis or a creative writing project as the culminating experience. Alternatively, students may choose to conduct independent research on a topic of special interest leading to a final exit examination.
Management, MSMManagement, MSM The MSM program provides fundamental learning in management by emphasizing systems thinking to effectively manage a team, project, or program. Instructors are diversely experienced professionals with specialties ranging from engineering and management, to financial analysis and research.
Marital & Family Therapy, MAMarital & Family Therapy, MA Students learn skills to prepare for state licensure as an MFT in California and allows recipients to sit for state boards in over 45 states. This degree program meets the guidelines established by the California Board of Behavioral Science (BBS).
Master of Music, MMMaster of Music, MM The Master of Music (MM) program prepares graduates for professional careers in performance and studio teaching. Curriculum includes educational courses and individual instruction by dedicated faculty in addition to performance opportunities in beautiful venues on the Belmont campus.
Multiple Subject CredentialMultiple Subject Credential Students prepare for teaching elementary school classes. The credential program can allow up to five credential courses to be applied toward select master's degrees.
Public Administration, MPAPublic Administration, MPA The MPA program is designed for students interested in managing public, non-profit, and service-related organizations. Special emphasis is placed on public affairs administration or human resources management.
Reading Credential and CertificateReading Credential and Certificate Students take 15 units of training and instruction for Certificate and 30 units for Credential, with emphasis in program management and interface with Special Education. Graduates are qualified in instruction and program development at the classroom, school, district, or county level. All reading programs incorporate personalized learning and mentoring.
Reading, MAReading, MA The Reading MA program includes an additional capstone course in Educational Research along with Reading Credential course study.
School Administration, MASchool Administration, MA The Master of Arts in School Administration degree program prepares students to administer programs in public and private schools. It approaches administration from a generic standpoint in the core courses and from an experiential base in the practical-based courses. Building upon the Preliminary Administrative Credential, this program enables students to complete six additional units in curriculum development and assessment and evaluation in order to earn a master's degree.
Single Subject CredentialSingle Subject Credential This program is designed for students interested in teaching at the middle and high school level. Students have access to personalized education and counseling, field orientation of programs, and career placement. Graduates are qualified to teach in departmental subject areas. Student teaching is incorporated in the program curriculum.
Special Education CredentialSpecial Education Credential The Special Education Credential program helps students enter the high-demand field of Special Education. Often students find teaching employment before completing the program.
Special Education, MASpecial Education, MA The Special Education Master of Arts program incorporates all of the material and study of the Special Education Credential program, along with capstone study in Educational Research.
Teaching, MATeaching, MA This program is designed for students who are already secondary school teachers seeking to augment existing subject competencies. Graduates must also complete a thesis project incorporating research, practice, and personal reflection.
