NMTI kicked me out for being sick.
August 18, 2008
By Andi - Philadelphia

I went there and all throughout the registration process I made them very aware of the fact I was and had been ill for a long while, they said they'd work with me. After I had to postponed after the first 3 days I started again three weeks later. I started getting sick again and tried to explain that I couldn't make the two hour commute each way seeing as how it'd gotten so bad I couldn't walk in the mornings let alone leave the house. When my fiancee called to explain this the school director refused to let him speak without interrupting him mid-sentence with "Well, you'll owe 20,000 dollars, I don't care you're just gonna have to get stuck with that big bill" They accused me of lying, personally insulted both me and my fiancee who had also began going. Turns out that he was literally only saying that to provoke us seeing as how at the time he knew that our financial aid or loans hadn't gone through yet. So in short when they say they'll do what they can to help you graduate they are lying. We also had problems with our financial aid adviser who kept losing our tax information. Also, we were told that they were the only accredited school for massage in the state, that was also a lie, we were immediately able to find another school that was 7,000 dollars cheaper. By the way, they charge a ridiculous amount for attending a school that shares a building with a dunkin donuts and is in pretty bad shape. It makes you wonder where the money goes seeing as how it seems they hire mostly students to teach.

If you are interested in a career in the massage field, NMTI focuses only on massage. The classes are taught by professionals in their field that not only teach you the techniques but the business behind them. My only complaint was the commute but you can't hold the school responsible for that. Career placement is second to none. I quickly had more offers than I new what to do with and have been working ever since.
