Overview
Fortis College is a career-oriented college with campuses in states including Alabama, Virginia, Florida, Indiana, Arizona and Utah. The school offers a variety of programs including Cosmetology, Dental Assisting, Court Reporting, Medical Assisting and Massage Therapy. The goal of the programs is to help students transition as quickly as possible from the classroom to the workforce; degrees are practical, hands-on and expertly taught. Fortis appeals to both first-time college students and those who are changing careers.

At Fortis, classes are taught with students' careers in mind, so the information is hands-on, practical and current. Small classes, a wide range of popular degrees and experienced instructors all add up to interesting, challenging and valuable class time. Upon graduation, students have access to a wide range of career support services at the school's Career Services Center.

This program offers three different degrees: AOS in Medical Assistant, an AOS Medical Office Assistant and an AOS in Pharmacy Technician. All prepare students for entry-level careers in the medical field, and students benefit from hands-on training and practical information. - CosmetologistCosmetologist
This program prepares students to become professional cosmetologists. Graduate are able to look for work in various styling salon environments and they can also pursue private cosmetology businesses. Students are trained in a variety of services including styling, coloring, nail technology, and facials. Plentiful hands-on practice opportunities are a hallmark of this program. - Court ReporterCourt Reporter
This program is designed for students interested in pursuing work as certified court reporters. The curriculum is thorough and yet streamlined. Students acquire a strong background in theory and develop machine shorthand speeds of up to 225 words per minute. - Dental AssistantDental Assistant
The Dental Assisting program trains students to work with dentists chairside and to perform a variety of patient care, office and lab duties. Graduates of the program can examine and treat patients and can work in a variety of environments including private and public group dental practices, mobile dental units, insurance companies and hospitals - Emergency Medical Services, ParamedicEmergency Medical Services, Paramedic
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a critical part of the healthcare team and the community in general. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to properly assess, manage, and transport patients at an Advanced Life Support Level of competence. The EMS/Paramedic Program will expose students to the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at an advanced life support level with an ambulance service, fire department, hospital, and industry. - HVACRHVACR
The HVAC program is intended for students interested in entry-level jobs as HVARC Technicians. Students take courses on topics including computerized diagnostics covering commercial refrigeration, gas heat, heat pumps, and air conditioning. Students gain experience in both residential and commercial systems. - Massage TherapyMassage Therapy
In this program, students receive a solid foundation in the fundamentals of massage. Students take courses on a variety of techniques and topics including Swedish techniques, pathology, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. Graduates are prepared to sit for the national certification exam. - Medical AssistantMedical Assistant
The Medical Assistant program trains students on both the day-to-day administrative skills and knowledge they'll need as well as the clinical skills they need to work in the offices and clinics of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and more. In the Medical Billing and Coding program, students learn about medical terminology, office management, and coding techniques to prepare them for entry-level jobs as Medical Billers and Coders for a medical facility. Graduates are able to look for work in environments including hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices dental offices and more. - Medical Office SpecialistMedical Office Specialist
Graduates of this program are equipped with a range of administrative skills including keyboarding, word processing, medical billing and coding, medical claims processing and examination, hospital billing, collections and follow-up on delinquent claims process. Students in program also become familiar with general office procedures and accounting principles. - ParalegalParalegal
The Paralegal program prepares students for legal work in law firms, banks, corporations, and other organizations. Students learn to conduct client interviews, perform legal research, and draft legal documents. - Pharmacy TechnicianPharmacy Technician
Students in the Pharmacy Technician program learn how to prepare and fill prescriptions under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, and they also learn how to administer medications. Students take courses about a pharmacy's legal responsibilities, calculations, common drug interaction and more. - Surgical TechnologistSurgical Technologist
The Surgical Technologist program trains students to work under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses. Students acquire a wide range of skills which help them provide care for patients during surgery. Graduates can look to be employed on medical teams made up of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses.
