Empire College
Overview
Empire College is located in Santa Rosa California, about one hour north of San Francisco. Founded in 1961, the school features a wide variety of career-training programs in accounting, information technology, paralegal, medical assisting, office administration and tourism management. Empire College also has as School of Law. Some of the many program titles include accounting essentials, legal office administration, medical transcription and tourism and hospitality. The school offers associate and certificate degrees, and the school emphasizes providing its students with truly marketable skills.

This is a fast-paced program which aims to improve student's current administrative skills as well as to provide them with additional marketable skills. The program is intended for those with previous college and/or work experience.
- Accounting EssentialsAccounting Essentials
This program teaches students basic accounting, word and data processing and office procedure skills. Graduates are prepared for a variety of bookkeeping and assistant accounting roles including in the areas of payroll, general ledger, payables and receivables.
- Accounting with Computer ApplicationsAccounting with Computer Applications
This program is intended to prepare students for entry-level jobs as account clerks or as bookkeepers. Students take a variety of courses on topics including accounting systems, cycles and theories, and students also work with computerized spreadsheets, word processing and computerized accounting.
- Administrative AssistantAdministrative Assistant
This program prepares students for a variety of rewarding office-related careers that require strong backgrounds in administrative and business skills. Students develop secretarial skills, general office and office assistant skills.
- Clinical Medical AssistantClinical Medical Assistant
This program offers students in-depth classroom and clinical instruction in medical terminology, medical office procedures, medical insurance billing and more. Students must also take courses on topics including basic anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
- Computer Support SpecialistComputer Support Specialist
This program provides all students with both lab and real work experience to prepare them for careers with personal computers. Students take a range of classes on topics like basic electronic theory, terminology and computer system assembly, software installation, troubleshooting, techniques and solutions.
- Computerized Business SkillsComputerized Business Skills
This is a short-term vocational program for students who are interested in entry-level jobs as receptionist and other clerical positions. Students study both computer and keyboarding skills as well as a variety of business and professional skills.
- Legal Office AdministrationLegal Office Administration
The Legal Office Administration program prepares students to work as both legal administrators and as legal secretaries. Students take introductory classes on topics including law office management. The emphasis is on providing students with real-world, marketable skills.
- Legal SecretaryLegal Secretary
This program prepares students for position as legal secretaries and for legal administrative support positions after graduation. Students develop proficiency in both procedures and practical application.
- Medical Administrative AssistantMedical Administrative Assistant
For this program, students take a variety of courses on topics including medical terminology, medical office procedures, medical insurance billing, claims reimbursement and more. Students are prepared for a variety of front office medical assistant positions in doctors' offices, hospitals, private laboratories and more.
- Medical Billing and Coding TechnicianMedical Billing and Coding Technician
This program helps students develop medical outpatient billing and coding procedures. Students are trained in billing software programs, claims reimbursement and various medical-related software for data protection and data transmission.
- Medical TranscriptionistMedical Transcriptionist
This program focuses on medical insurance billing but also covers topics including medical office software, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and transcription.
- Network AdministratorNetwork Administrator
This program is intended to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to configure and troubleshoot computer hardware as well as to configure networks. Graduates are prepared to enter into entry-level positions as network administrators or network technicians.
- Network SpecialistNetwork Specialist
This program provides students with the ability to design Windows infrastructures and active directories, work on Cisco router configuration and provide them with an overall understanding of wireless networks and network security.
- Office Administration - Legal and ExecutiveOffice Administration - Legal and Executive
Graduates of this program are able to apply for administrative assistant, secretarial, general office and office assistant positions. Students are trained in advanced computer applications, desktop publishing, graphics and presentations and more. The program also prepares students for certification as Microsoft Office Specialists in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- ParalegalParalegal
This program is intended for students who are interested in pursuing careers as legal assistants/paralegals, legal secretaries or administrative support staff in a law office. Students must complete a 75-hour internship.
- PhlebotomyPhlebotomy
This program is approved by the State of California Department of Health Services. Graduates receive a certificate of completion from Empire College allowing them to sit for the national certification examination. Upon passing the national examination, graduates are eligible to apply to the State for CPT I certification.

This program prepares students with a wide variety of advanced administrative, computer and communication skills. This program trains both medical administrative assistants and clinical assistants with a solid background in both areas. Emphasis is placed on administrative and clinical skills. Courses cover terminology, medical insurance billing, medical office procedures, medical clinical procedures and more.

Students in this program learn managerial accounting in addition to a variety of accounting computer applications. General education classes cover decision making, human relations and critical thinking skills.
- Specialized Associate Degree in Information Technology - Cisco ConcentrationSpecialized Associate Degree in Information Technology - Cisco Concentration
Students in this program work with the Cisco Internetworking Operating Systems including setup, configuration and design of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). The student will be able to program Cisco routers and switches; implement TCP/IP addressing, Access Control lists and VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) and configure Distance Vector, Link State and Hybrid protocols.

This program is trains students to design, deploy and administer network infrastructure using Microsoft Windows. Students are also introduced to the Linux/Unix operating system, and they learn the basics of Cisco routers, web design and electronic messaging. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions as network administrators, network consultants, network engineers, network technicians or systems engineers.

This program is designed to help students recognizing network vulnerabilities and maximizing network security. Students also receive training on Unix/Linux operating systems including setup, configuration and user management.

Emphasis is placed on tour planning, convention sales and service, event planning, California wine industry, California tourism courses, international travel, airline reservation and more.

This is a faster, more condensed version and is designed for students who already have minimal clerical skills. Emphasis is placed on topics including tour planning, convention sales and service, event planning, the California wine industry, international travel, geography, and airline reservations.
