Overview
Career Centers of Texas was founded in 1985 as a branch of San Antonio College of Medical and Dental Assistants. Since then, the institution has developed into a network of trade schools with campuses easily accessible in the state of Texas at Brownsville, Corpus Christi, and El Paso. The Career Centers of Texas offers quality higher education programs that integrate general education, professional skills, and career-focused training in such demanded fields as Allied Health, Information Technology, and Nursing. Through innovative coursework that combine traditional classroom instruction with practical, hands-on lab training, students practice and master the skills to succeed on the job.

• Computer Networking Technology - Associate of Applied ScienceComputer Networking Technology - Associate of Applied Science
  Essential to those interested in launching a career in the technology field, this program provides the necessary skills to become a network operations analyst, network systems support, network technician, or similar position. Students will learn how to install and maintain computer networks, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, manage databases, develop Web pages, provide increase network security, and other expertise to ensure that computers run efficiently in today's working world.
• Computer Support Technician - DiplomaComputer Support Technician - Diploma
  This program is intended to train students to become computer support specialists who can assist with day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of computer systems and networks. Through group discussions, lectures, and hands-on experience, students learn about computer programs, hardware and software, and network systems, gaining the requisite knowledge and skills for entry-level employment in the computer support field.
• Dental Assistant - DiplomaDental Assistant - Diploma
  Focusing on a variety of clinical procedures a dental assistant is expected to perform, students of this curriculum develop both clinical and administrative skills, from oral surgery assistance to patient record management. In addition to the specialty training, this program also prepares graduates for the required radiology certification exams approved by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE).
• Electrical Technician - DiplomaElectrical Technician - Diploma
  Designed in compliance with the National Electrical Codes, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards and guidelines, this program focuses on basic electricity, residential and commercial wiring and electrical layout, and motors and controls used in industrial facilities. Students gain the skills necessary for installation of service entrances, single- and multiphase power supplies, transformer connections, service drops, switch gears, and service disconnects, enabling them to seek entry-level electrical technician employment in building construction and design, general building construction, commercial and residential construction, construction equipment and supplies, and related fields.
• Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration - DiplomaHeating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration - Diploma
  This curriculum emphasizes installing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in accordance with industry safety standards, providing classroom instruction and extensive hands-on lab training in topics such as motors and controls, heating and central air-conditioning systems, plus preparation for the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification exam. Graduates of this program often seek employment as HVAC/R technicians.
• Medical Assistant - DiplomaMedical Assistant - Diploma
  Much of the students' training conducted in medical training labs, which are designed to mirror real-world health care offices with examination tables, minor surgical instruments, lab testing machines, and CPR and EKG training equipment. Students will practice performing clinical procedures, such as administering injections, assisting in minor surgical procedures, drawing blood for medical testing, and taking vital signs to prepare them for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam sponsored by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), as well as a rewarding career as medical assistants.
• Medical Office Specialist - DiplomaMedical Office Specialist - Diploma
  The courses of this program focus on computerized medical procedures such as bookkeeping and word processing, with specific training in data entry of patient information, filing systems and records, filing insurance claims, medical coding, transcribing physicians' instructions, emergency medical procedures, and many other topics to provide the education and training required for entry-level positions in a medical administrative office.
• Medical Practice Management - Associate of Applied ScienceMedical Practice Management - Associate of Applied Science
  Students acquire thorough training and job knowledge needed to pursue an entry-level position in the health care field through this curriculum. The coursework combine group discussions, lectures, and hands-on laboratory experience to refine the administrative, communication, management, and accounting skills students need to become medical professionals.
• Patient Care Assistant Technician - DiplomaPatient Care Assistant Technician - Diploma
  Beneficial to those exhibiting aptitude for patient care, this curriculum features training labs designed to simulate real-world patient care settings for students to practice their skills and build the confidence they need for the various responsibilities. Students are required to complete an externship at a health care facility in the community prior to graduation.
