Just completed the Med Billing Cert program with a tuition cost of $3,600. Called to request my certificate of completion and was told that it wouldn't be available until the total tuition cost was pd in full.

NOW.....I DID MY HOMEWORK PRIOR TO SIGNING WITH KAPLAN. I READ THE REVIEWS, SOME VERY BAD. I QUESTIONED MY ENROLLMENT ADVISOR, WALTER WINN, ABOUT THEM ALL. ONE WAS "WILL I RECEIVE MY CERTIFICATE ONCE CLASSES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED?" HIS ANSWER WAS YES.

Now Kaplan is saying I can receive a transcript showing classes were completed. The Student Support office told me that no college will give a copy of cert of completion w/out full tuiton pd in full. In the medical field, your certificate is almost always asked for at the interview stage.

HOW UNPROFESSIONAL WILL I LOOK WHEN I HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT I HAVEN'T FINISHED PAYING KAPLAN OFF, SO NO CERT. BTW....I AM ON THE 18-MONTH PAYMENT PLAN. IT'S NOT LIKE I'M NOT MAKING MY PAYMENTS!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this school. Instructors don't seem to have knowledge in their field. Many times I called my biller/coder friend for answers when I knew my instructor didn't know what she was talking about.

THE KAPLAN INSTRUCTORS DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE BILLING SOFTWARE I HAD TO PURCHASE, WHICH WAS REQUIRED FOR MY COURSE. I HAD TO CALL THE SOFTWARE CO. FOR ASSISTANCE IN NAVIGATING AROUND THE PRACTICE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM. HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU'VE BEEN IN THE BUSINESS FOR 15 YEARS AND NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE BILLING SOFTWARE YOU REQUIRE ME TO KNOW IN ORDER TO PASS THE FINAL EXAM?????

and the classes were all open-book and too easy, very basic & vague. There is no way could I pass the state test to become a registered medical biller without further education.

Shame, shame, shame on Kaplan. They are liars. I am so disappointed.

I attended Kaplan for Medical Office Management for 3 weeks and it was a bunch of bull. The classes always had technical issues, that never seemed to be resolved. I asked for a due date during class and the question remained unanswered. So, I emailed the teacher and she got back to me a week later, 2 days after the paper was due. Then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault I didn't have the date right becasue I didn't ask. This school is not worth the $32,000+change they charge.
