I graduated from high tech inst in Nashville , tn in 2006. Thank goodness I did have two awesome xray instructors. The ge instructors were about a joke and didn't know shit about health care. After I finished it took over two months to get me onto an externship site.
Luckily I got hired on my site, but it was making $10,000 less a year than my previous jobs. To think I went to school to better myself now I make less a year and am in $20,000 of student loan debt.
Oh and the recruiters for high-tech should have their butts kicked for all the lies they dish out on how much money you will make after graduating. I'm surprised high tech hasn't had a civil suit against them. Do it right go to a community college, you will pay less and make more money in the end. FYI high-tech credits do not transfer and most colleges look at them as a joke.
I have been in the HR field for 25 years having worked for one of the country's most respected academic medical centers, a large city general hospital and a national therapy contractor. The vast majority of health care recruiters have very little respect for degrees or certifications from these for profit, proprietary schools. Most provide a very poor education from instructors of questionable competence. High Tech in particular is a joke.
I have had, on three separate occasions, young ladies break down in tears while talking to me because they could not find a job in radiology and were saddled with big student loan debt to boot. A limited scope program is only slightly better than no program at all, particularly if you expect to work in a respectable acute care facility. There are solid state institutions all over the country that offer good programs at manageable costs. Go the public institution path and avoid the money grubbers!
I went to Hi-Tech in Orlando and the experience was not to bad. I went to this school for a certification in radiology and the teachers there where not to knowlegeable themselves. For instance my teacher was young beautiful woman who liked to party ALL THE TIME with the students, I mean she sleeped with 3 of my classmates through out the year including my self and although it was AWESOME, i didnt learn to much and I barley did the assigments and passed anyways.
I got to say I immediatly got a job but then again it was in 2000; job market was better. in conclusion get and old ugly lady for a teacher, you'll learn more. Trust me when I started working I got on the job training and it was emberassing!
i finished the xray program and graduated in may 2010...its now december 2010 ....not a job offer, not an interview, no help at all..this school tells u so much BS just to get you in.. they lie and say theres so many jobs out there for xray and you can make up to 32k a year....wat a bunch of lies...there wont be a xmas for my lil 5 year old this year.... THANK YOU HI-TECH for your BULLS..T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to the Nashville school in 2007 for their X-ray program. That was the biggest waist of my time and money! I was an A student with a 3.6 GPA and let me tell you.
When I finally did get a job (only because I knew people, nit b/c the school helped me find one) I felt like a retard! they taught me nothing!!!! and my "cross training" for MA was BS too. I was never accredited for that either. Oh and the best part was while I was there the massage therapy program didn't even have a teacher for 3 months.
Those student were told to just "read their books" while sitting in class!!! HAHAHA. This school just rips you off and takes your money and teaches you nothing. Do your research and go to a regular college or even a community college. It will be cheaper and you will actually learn something!!!
Oh and they had to change their name because they had their accredidation takin away from them once already. And the poor students that were there when that happend could not get their degree, only a paper saying they could work in that field!!!!
