I managed to complete the program of medical billing and codeing. You get one 6 week class on Codeing, taught by an instructor who was not certified, and struggled with codeing herself. After completeion, not once did anyone from the school bother to contact me to see how I was doing in my job search.

It's been 3 months now and I haven't as so much to land an interview. Attendin Branford Hall has turned out to be one of life's biggest regrets. They promise you the world to get you to sign up. You have to pay 90.00 to sit for the certification inwhich for the most part codeing questions, which you will be unable to pass based on this curriculum. This should be illegal.

I taught at Branford Hall in Bohemia for just under one year and I have to agree with the students that have posted here about it being a cash cow joke. Administration has nothing but money on their minds. How to keep it, how to get more. Most of the time they lie to the impending students to get them to sign on the dotted line and be into them for $$$. I was given classes to teach where the pre-requisite was not taught, so I'd have to reteach that in order to teach my own. I also taught classes that were, in reality, review classes. "Filler classes" in the curriculum.

Even I was dismayed at wasting such time and $ in teaching this junk. Then there's the security-lack of. Anyone can walk in and out and since we had some issues with students and domestic violence-which Admin knew about-you'd think security would be important. NO! Can't tell you how many times 911 was called because an abusive spouse/bf came onto the premises.

And yes, the entire doubletalk about what you are paying for when you sign and what you actually get is true. Do yourself a favor-save your $, get a curriculum online, study, take prep tests online and then take the real test. You'll save yourself SO MUCH $$, TIME AND AGGRAVATION. Good luck!

As advertised, "You can get your coding certification is less than 9 months".

* Wrong. Only after three months of the program, when it's too late to back out to get a refund and you'd have to pay for everything, do they tell you that you don't get anything except for your diploma in the mail that my get wrinkled if your mailbox is too small. They never told you that you'll have to spend an extra $420 to take the actual CPC exam once you graduate.

- As advertised, "You can get your coding certification is less than 9 months".

* Wrong. After they tell you that you not only have to pay for your exam, now you have to pay for the three books to take your exam which will cost you an extra $600+. Unfortunately for them, our class told them no, we don't think so. We fought tooth and nail to get the books that qualified us for our exam because we deserved that much and we paid for something in the initial $15,000. What we did paved the the future for other students at that school so they could learn with up to date materials.

- When we graduated and passed, we are given two letters of recommendations for our AAPC that will prove we coded enough to have considered 2 years of experience which will allow us to be CPC certified once we pass our AAPC exam.

* Today, I learned that was wrong too. The letter ONLY covers ONE year of experience, the year we put in for actual coding anyway, and now, when I pass my exam, I'll be CPC-A certified. A means Appearance. A means we have to complete another YEAR of coding to drop the A.

This doesn't even cover the quality of education your receive in the school, or actually, the lack of education. The pre-test to get into the school was a joke and I think I had a similar test when I was in grade school. We had four amazing teachers that were well educated and reached out to their students who struggled. The rest of the teachers were unqualified, even reading out of the books and handing us loads of work to do on our own. We even had one mod (semester) where we only had one class a day and we had to teach ourselves the coding, so by next mod, we had no idea what we were doing and the teacher had to backtrack and teach us what the other teacher never did, making us have to double work to keep us on track.

The administration was poor and people were getting laid off and replaced left and right. Most people employed outside of teaching only lasted a few months. They were more against the students than with them and when we were fighting for our rights to have books, we were baby sat like children.

Please consider your options before choosing Branford Hall. I would never recommend them if you're looking to start a new career. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, was able to get hired through my internship (which was only run by one person, making it ridiculously hard to find a place quickly and accurately) and currently making $14hr (which is on the low end of medical coding). I honestly say that if I didn't do most of the work, the extra hours, the long nights and my own achievement of getting somewhere, I wouldn't be as fortunate.

You can get the same education and become a CPC-A for less by doing online classes or even going to a community college. Don't waste your time and money on this institute, you deserve better for yourself and your family. It's really a shame and there's nothing I can do now but to give you some insight and hope you make a better choice.
