I attended the ORACLE certificate program from June-August 2009. I wasted $12,739 for nothing; right now I am so frustrated and still cannot find a job. I enrolled for the fast track (morning class) Oracle certificate program, and was told that there was a career development in place to help students find a job upon completion of the course. Well let me start by saying the instructor, administration, and tech personnel are the worst I have ever seen. The instructor does not have a clue of what he is teaching, he claimed that he was certified but later towards the end of the course we found out that he was also preparing to take the OCA (first oracle certification exam). In addition to that, we did not get the text books for which we paid $500 bucks for until the middle of the course, when I addressed the issue to administration the kept on sending me from one office to another like I was stupid or something. Not only did we get the text book late we did not even get the full package (excluded SQL text books), and when I asked the told me that I did not need them. Secondly communication among faculty and tech guys was very poor, we would do work on the computers and come in the next day to find that all the data has been erased and when I addressed the issue to the instructor he would nonchalantly blame it on the tech guys. When the time came for us to look for jobs, I went to the career development team, and all I got was an ORACLE DBA SAMPLE resume copied from internet. And she said “just modify it and paste it on career builder”.

In a nutshell, all I can say is please if you want to take the Oracle certificate program either go to UMBC or look for some were else, don’t go to JHU John Hopkins University/ ACI American Career institute, they are big time rip-offs.
