DO NOT FALL FOR ALLIED COLLEGE'S LIES! First of all, tuition is 27,000 dollars for 1.5 years of massage therapy education. That's insane, and don't let them convince you it isn't. You can go to a legitmate school for four years for less money, and there you can get a degree for just about anything, not strictly massage therapy.
So, I went in one day to talk with an admissions rep. I thought I would be discussing whether or not Allied College is a good fit for me or not, but before I knew it, I had been suckered in to paying a 50 dollar application fee and registering for classes. During the interview, the admissions rep mentioned three times to me how in demand massage therapy is right now... "We just can't keep pumping out enough graduates to satisfy the demand" were her exact words each time. I found that quite hard to believe. She also dismissed four year colleges, calling this "specified career training" where as I "wouldn't be able to do much with a four year degree." She said that I could make a whole lot more money as a massage therapist than a teacher, which is just a flat out lie.
So then, the next day, I call Allied College and tell them I will not be attending, due to the insane tuition. Christina (my admissions rep's name) resorted to strong arm salesman tactics, bullying, and practically shouting at me over the phone for changing my mind. Something tells me a legitimate school would be a little less pushy, and not care as much whether or not I went there. But this is how Allied makes their money. When I go in to cancel my registration, I ask for a refund on my 50 dollar application fee. The contract clearly states that you can get a refund "3 business days after the day of application." I applied on Wednesday, and went in on Monday to get the refund. The person I talked to over the phone even said, "Yep, that's within 3 business days, so you'll get your money back." But Christina tells me that the day I applied, Wednesday, counts as a day. Therefore, I would have had to come in on Friday. Well, this is total BS, because the contract clearly says its 3 days after the day you apply. Good thing my dad's a lawyer, and he's in the process now of getting the fee back. We'll even go as far as file a small claims court summons against these bastards.

I was so excited to be going to college to do better for myself and family.
The teachers basically focus on going over the tests and having you memorize the answers! I felt like I wasn't really being taught. All the meetings that the teachers have take place during school hours, so there were plenty of times that my class was left alone for at least 45 min to an hour! You go over so many chapters in a week and get tested on the material every Friday (not to mention we pay thousands of dollars!) so every minute means a LOT!
My course of study had gone through 5 teachers in the year and a half that I attended! If you are going to pay this much for school, put it towards an accredited university! If you want to go farther in your schooling, none of your classes taken here will transfer so if you go to another school you will have to take all these classes over again! Wish I knew what I know now.
If you want to try this school, please talk to as many students as you can about their experience. Don't just take it from me. Especially in these times, we need to use our money wisely. I wish I would have.

Really liked the classes and learning style. Instructor was helpful, acted like a teacher instead of treating us as subordinates. Program was great at giving a lot of foundation knowledge and emphasizing the fact that it is only a start, that you really start learning once you have been working for awhile. Could have used more practicum time. Didn't like that we had to pay for CPR and First Aid courses up front; I already had these certifications therefore I felt I should have been exempt from further fees.
