Marriage and family therapists (MFTs) are highly-trained mental health professionals who evaluate and treat mental and emotional disorders with families of all kinds, including couples with and without children. Marriage and family therapists work to understand family dynamics and how to apply the knowledge in order to understand the patients’ past and present mental health and behavioral issues. These therapists work with both children and with adults in a variety of settings.
